In Haiti where the plant is native the branches are used as torches, hence one of the common names for this tree is Balsam Torchwood. This oil is truly aromatherapy – one drop bathes in the senses in a light, sweet woody aroma that calms, relaxes, and soothes. Added to perfumes, colognes, and deodorants, the warm aroma can be used as a base note similar to how sandalwood essential oil is frequently used.
